What Are Industrial Ceramics?

Industrial ceramics are ceramics used in industrial production and products made from inorganic non-metallic materials. Belonging to the category of fine ceramics, they possess properties such as high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, and wear resistance, and are widely used in energy, machinery, and electronics fields. They can replace metals and polymer materials in extreme working environments. Functionally, they are divided into two main categories: structural ceramics and functional ceramics. Common types include alumina ceramics (high-temperature furnace tubes, spark plugs), silicon carbide ceramics (rocket nozzles, heat exchangers), silicon nitride ceramics (ceramic bearings), and zirconia ceramics (knives, artificial joints).

The preparation of these materials involves powder processing, molding, and sintering processes. Jingdezhen, through the construction of an advanced ceramic industrial park, has driven the output value of industrial ceramics from 2 billion yuan in 2020 to 20.6 billion yuan in 2023, with products covering high-end fields such as aerospace components and new energy vehicle relays.
